About XZanthia

Turning nightmares, memories and trauma into something beautiful, one creation at a time, since the late 1990s.

The story

XZanthia Octoshroom is a Florida-based multidisciplinary artist, musician, filmmaker, and licensed massage therapist whose work explores the space between beauty, dreams, horror, humor, and the surreal. Creating since the late 1990s, she works across watercolor, oil painting, collage, sculpture, masks, costumes, and mixed media, developing strange worlds filled with creepy-cute characters, psychedelic imagery, and dark fantasy.

Her music is divided into two distinct projects that represent different sides of her creative personality. XZanthia – Jupiter’s Thunder embraces erotic horror pop, industrial textures, unsettling atmospheres, and emotional intensity, while XZanthia – XParaMental explores ethereal electronic soundscapes, ambient dubstep, experimental noise, and otherworldly melodies. Using her own vocals and a love of unconventional sounds, she creates immersive experiences that blur the boundaries between music, performance art, and dreams.

From operating galleries and studios to creating films, music videos, and wearable art, XZanthia’s lifelong mission has been to build entire worlds that invite viewers and listeners to embrace the strange, the beautiful, and the unknown. Her work celebrates imagination without limits, transforming nightmares, memories, and curiosity into deeply personal experiences that are both haunting and enchanting.

In her own words: turning trauma into art, one creation at a time. Learning to be constructive rather than destructive with life’s little disturbances. Making something beautiful out of the debris that is left behind. With the mixture of sex & death, beauty & the macabre, XZanthia creates in multiple media: everything from sculpture to oil painting, from steampunk to surrealism, from glass fusing to welding, from music to film.

Since the late 1990s she has also worked in underground and independent film, on productions featuring horror icons including Robert Englund, Bill Moseley, Tom Towles, Lloyd Kaufman and Tom Savini, and in films directed by Adam Wingard. Today she hosts a free open studio at XZanthia’s Art Asylum in Gulfport on the first Saturday of every month, and practises as a Florida licensed massage therapist (MA86923).
